Spearheaded the development of Alabama's first Tourism Improvement District (TID) at Visit Mobile and later established TID at Visit Baltimore in 2019

Cultural Assessment & Strategic Planning

Conducted cultural assessment at Visit Baltimore to identify engagement gaps and developed the organization's first-ever Strategic/Visioning Plan and Core Values in 2018

Introduced Rolling Budget Model

Introduced three-year rolling budget model to enhance financial stability and long-term planning

Elevated Visit Baltimore's Voice

Elevated Visit Baltimore's voice during the social justice movement in 2020, earning the Events Industry Council's 2020 Social Impact Award

Created HBCU Scholarship Program

Created the first-ever HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) Scholarship Program for students pursuing hospitality degrees while serving as Chair of the Destinations International Board in 2022

Mental Wellness Initiatives

Championed mental wellness initiatives as Chair of the Religious Conference Management Association (RCMA), introducing Visit Baltimore's first dedicated budget for mental wellness initiatives for staff and leadership in 2023

Visit Baltimore Named Best Place to Work

Led Visit Baltimore to be named Best Place to Work by the Baltimore Sun in 2024

As President & CEO of Visit Baltimore from 2016 to 2025, Al drove positive economic impact for the city by attracting leisure travelers and convention business while establishing the organization as an industry leader in both strategic marketing and social impact.

Through the Lead with Love philosophy, Al and the AVH team offer comprehensive leadership development, strategic planning, and social impact solutions tailored specifically for destination marketing organizations. With experience serving on boards including the United States Travel Association, Destinations International, and Religious Conference Management Association, Al brings both strategic vision and practical implementation expertise to every client partnership.
